Reports of bear sightings have been on the rise.
With bear sightings in urban areas making headlines these days, we’ve also recently received several reports of bear sightings along the Michinoku Coastal Trail from hikers. On June 22, 2026, there was even an incident where two bears crossed right in front of a hiker (no injuries reported).
Please remember that, as hikers, we are guests in the natural habitat of bears. Take the necessary precautions to prevent unfortunate accidents and enjoy your hike.
