The highest point along the MCT is the top of Mt. Hashikamidake at 740 meters. There are also other parts that go through mountainous areas, but there’s no point on the trail high enough where you’re required by law to submit a trekking itinerary. However, we still recommend you do submit a trekking itinerary to the police even for low mountains, because if something did happen rescue organizations would be able to act that much more quickly.
