Q1. If I start walking somewhere and walk to that day’s endpoint, how do I get back to my starting point?
There are many different ways. For example, if you hike in a group and come via several cars, you could park one of the cars at your goal point, and take that car back to the start point when you finish your hike. If you’re coming with just one car, you could leave a foldable bicycle or electric bike to at your goal point to get back, or leave the car at your goal point and use the bicycle to get to your start point.
If there’s a train line or transit bus line nearby, you can leave your car at your goal point and use public transport to reach your start point. Local trains and buses sometimes don’t run very often, so it’s important to plan your hike accordingly.
If you use a taxi, you can get back to your starting point without deciding a particular goal point.
Also, this service is limited to staying guests, but some lodging facilities registered as MCT supporters offer rides to and from the MCT.

Other MCT hikers have already figured out various ways to handle this issue, so it’s always a good idea to ask on the social media group 「みちのく潮風トレイルハイカーズコミュニティ」(“Michinoku Coastal Trail Hiker’s Community”) or the unofficial English language “Michinoku Coastal Trail” group.
