Following the announcement of the forest fire extinguishment declaration by Otsuchi Town at 1:00 PM on May 29, the Otsuchi Town section of the Michinoku Coastal Trail will reopen for passage.
A detour has been established for certain sections due to the risk of fallen trees. Please check the current conditions and latest safety information before proceeding.

Regarding the Closure Between Otsuchi Town and Kamaishi City

The main Michinoku Coastal Trail is currently impassable at Sujiyama Park (unpaved road section) on the Scenic Line in Otsuchi Town, Iwate Prefecture, due to the risk of fallen trees resulting from the forest fire that occurred in April 2026.
