In response to the bear attack that occurred in Noda Village on July 27, Noda Village has installed warning signs at the site. The affected section is shown on the map.
The Michinoku Coastal Trail takes you through natural surroundings. Please be aware that you are entering an area where bears live, and take precautions to avoid encounters with bears—such as making noise to signal your presence and avoiding walks in the early morning, evening, or at night.

Today (July 27), a bear attack resulting in injury occurred in Noda Village, Iwate Prefecture.
Noda Village has issued the following safety advisory.

[Alert from Noda Village]
At around 7:00 a.m. today, a tourist was attacked by a bear in the Tamagawa area (near the Ishimon Cemetery), resulting in injuries. We ask residents in the vicinity to exercise even greater caution than usual.

・Do not approach forests or areas with dense vegetation without good reason.
・When going out or doing farm work, carry a bear bell, radio, or similar item and make noise.
・Properly dispose of food waste, discarded vegetables, and other items that could serve as food for bears.
